This is probably old news for family, but I forgot that I had taken pics of it, so I thought I’d blog it.
Last week Caleb and I were in the porch swing watching the girls jump on the trampoline and swing on their swingset. Something we do quite often to make the evening pass while waiting for Daddy to get home. Well, most of you know I have this fear of bees and I thought I saw one coming towards us (I’m allergic), so I proceeded to stand up. BUT… I didn’t quite make it. Somehow the swing swung out from underneath me and we went down. I managed to not drop Caleb (all 20 lbs. of him!), but we still went down. I hit my ankles (must have been on the edge of the porch), my left palm, and my right knee. However, the momentum must have kept flowing and Caleb hit his head. Right above his right eye. I immediately got up, but he was already wailing.
Great, I’m thinking to myself (not to mention the pain I was in)… another trip to the ER–we just went a few weeks ago when Haidyn fell off her bicycle. Since we’ve experienced head injuries with all our children now, I pretty much knew what to look for. So I just watched him. It immediately welped up (good sign) and he did calm down. I managed to snap a few shots to record his injury.
Looking at these pics makes me realize it looked much worse in person. And I’m sure hearing my baby’s head slam against the concrete enhanced what I was seeing. I continued to monitor him, but we went on with our evening as usual. I’m glad to say that by morning the swelling was gone and all he had was the remnants of a little raspberry from the scrape when he hit. A week later, I’m still dealing with a scraped knee, but it’s no longer sore. I have to say it’s been ages since I skinned my knee!
For memories sake, I found some old pictures of Haidyn when she bumped her head. These are actually taken several days (if not a week) after her injury happened. So you can’t really see the true damage. Her’s welped up pretty much immediately too. She is 10 months in these pictures.
Her incident was the result of Maddie pushing her too fast in her doll stroller. You know those little umbrella strollers that aren’t meant real babies, but only for baby dolls? Well, she got to going too fast running and rammed her into the corner in our old living room. Little did I know that was the beginning of their sisterly relationship. LOL!
I LOVE your work! What a talent the Lord has given you!
Thank you! You are too kind… I’m just excited to do something I love!
